Privacy notice

The short version: we only collect your email address if you sign up for updates. The site sets no cookies, and we never sell or share your data.

Who we are

Bark Raiders is a non-commercial (currently) hobby project run by a small independent team ("we", "us"). We're responsible for the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, email hello@bark-raiders.com.

Mailing list

If you sign up, we collect your email address so we can send you what you asked for: playtest invites and development updates. You confirm your sign-up by clicking a link we email you, and every email we send has an unsubscribe link.

• Legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing or emailing us.
• Who handles it: our mailing list runs on Kit, which stores your address for us in the United States. Kit also records when you signed up and whether our emails are opened and their links clicked.
• How long we keep it: until you unsubscribe. After that, Kit may keep a note that the address unsubscribed so it isn't emailed again. Ask us and we'll delete it completely.

Visitor statistics

We use Umami to count visits and see which pages and buttons get used. It sets no cookies, doesn't follow you across other sites, and doesn't store your IP address or anything else that identifies you. It records the page you viewed, the site that sent you, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, your approximate location (worked out from your IP address, which is then discarded), and a few actions such as clicking "Play" or completing a sign-up.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing whether anyone is visiting and what they find useful. Most ad blockers block Umami, and that's fine by us.

The browser prototype

The game saves your progress in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can delete it by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Your language choice

If you pick a language from the site's language menu or the game's title screen, your browser remembers it in local storage so both open in that language next time. Like your game progress, it stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, a US company that serves it from data centres around the world. Like any web server, it handles your IP address to deliver pages and may keep logs for security, as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy. Fonts, images and video come from this site itself, so loading a page doesn't contact anyone else apart from Umami (and Kit, if you sign up).

Children

The mailing list is for people aged 13 and over, and the sign-up form asks you to confirm your age. If you're younger, please ask a parent or guardian to sign up instead. If we find out someone under 13 has signed up, we'll delete their address.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email hello@bark-raiders.com and we'll reply within a month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
